Cyber Security Awareness Month is an international campaign held every October to help raise awareness about the simple steps Canadians can take to stay safe online.

The University of Toronto is pleased to partner with the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery to educate and help the tri-campus community stay secure online through our Cyber Security Month resources and events.

Virtual Coffee with the CISO: Managing online security risks

Protecting our data and information systems is a shared responsibility. All of us at the University of Toronto play a role in protecting the University community against security threats. This starts with learning to keep ourselves and our data safe online – be it protecting our accounts, digital assets or confidential data.

Grab a coffee and join this virtual event hosted by Isaac Straley, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), for an informal and open conversation about managing online security risks. This session will feature an engaging presentation from Isaac followed by a 40-minute interactive Q&A. Bring your questions and come ready to chat with the CISO.

Securing our Future: Bridging the Cyber Security Talent Gap. A Hybrid Event.

Open to post-secondary students across Ontario.

This year, U of T is partnering with the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery to host a hybrid panel event: Securing your Future: Bridging the Cyber Security Talent Gap. Students from Ontario’s post-secondary institutions who are interested in cyber security are welcome to join us in-person and virtually. Students will hear from experts about how you can start your career in cyber security.

Managing Digital Risks in the Broader Public Sector

Open to all U of T students and members of the broader public sector.

The Ontario’s Cyber Security Centre of Excellence will be hosting their annual Cyber Month conference “Managing Digital Risks in the Broader Public Sector”.

The event will be held both virtually and in-person at the Paramount Event Space in Woodbridge, Ontario. This full day conference will feature exciting panels featuring cyber security experts, interactive learning sessions that focus on how to improve skills and knowledge to recognize and mitigate cyber threats.

Note: The conference is open to all U of T students and will have opportunities to participate in targeted cyber security career chats and resume review sessions.
