About the CISO

Isaac Straley joined U of T in 2018. Isaac holds the inaugural appointment of chief information security officer (CISO) at the University.

In this dynamic role, Isaac reports to the chief information officer (CIO), and has oversight of the Information Security program, ensuring that the U of T’s networks, systems and information are protected meeting all regulatory and policy requirements.

He is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and reporting on information security risks to the CIO and the University’s senior administrative team. He also works with senior administration and Governing Council to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organization.

A collaborative and innovative leader, Isaac provides strategic and tactical direction to technology staff, managers, faculties and departments. Isaac is spearheading an effort to find meaningful ways for information security to enable the flexible and dynamic academic missions.

In his last role, Isaac was at the University of California for 13 years, where he held a dual post of both CISO and privacy officer.

Isaac is an alum of California State University, Long Beach and holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation.
